12th November 2018 Digital adoption is fuelling Pacific export growth with 79 per cent of exporters using online channels to generate revenue. This was one of the key finding from Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) Australia’s third export survey.
Digital trade is currently estimated to be worth about $43 billion to the Australian economy alone. To enable exporters in Fiji to take advantage of growing digital trade market PTI Australia will be in Fiji delivering their highly successful Digital Tourism Workshop aimed at tourism operators as well as bringing to Fiji and Amazon expert to deliver the new E-Commerce Workshop. PTI Australia is an agency of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
Secretary General, Dame Meg Taylor said it was a great opportunity for Fiji’s private sector and is a great initiative clearly demonstrating the Secretariat’s policy into practice. PTI Australia’s Digital mission to Fiji supporting the delivery of the Pacific Island Forums Strategic Results Framework of increasing economic prosperity.
“Over the last few years there’s been a real shift in the trade sector with online platforms making it easier for businesses in the Pacific to connect with international buyers. In the Pacific through the new cabling systems internet connectivity in Fiji and the Pacific is getting better. So I’m really thrilled that PTI Australia are coming to Fiji and delivering this workshop in partnership with the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association and the Fiji Export Council. Increasing economic prosperity in the Pacific is one of the Secretariats focuses to achieve this it’s important that we work with the private sector empowering businesses to take advantage of these new and growing platforms.”
