Pacific ACP (PACP) Leaders met on 8 September 2016 in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia to discuss a range of issues affecting the PACP region relating to their partnerships with the African and Caribbean regions, and the European Union. In her opening statement, the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, Dame Meg Taylor emphasised the importance of ensuring that the Pacific region’s priorities and key regional processes were taken into account in the development of the wider ACP engagement. Leaders considered the progress on the Pacific Regional Indicative Programme (PRIP) under the 11th European Development Fund, the PACP – EU comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) negotiations, Private Sector Development issues, the future of the ACP Group, PACP representation in Europe, and the preparatory work towards the negotiation of the successor to the Cotonou Agreement. The Secretary General reaffirmed the commitment of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in supporting Member States in progressing PACP agenda.
