Good evening,  and welcome to this special dinner, celebrating the convergence of two significant gatherings: the Pacific Islands Forum Women Leaders Meeting and the Pacific Ministers for Women Meeting.

2.    It is a privilege to be here among such an inspiring group of leaders and changemakers dedicated to shaping a brighter future for our Blue Pacific Continent and reaffirming our commitment to advancing women's leadership across the Pacific.

3.    Women’s leadership is integral to achieving the vision and goals of the 2050 Strategy. By empowering women and girls and ensuring their full participation in decision-making processes, we are strengthening the resilience of our communities.

4.    Women and girls in all their diversity bring unique perspectives, innovative solutions, and an unparalleled commitment to the well-being of our societies. This is crucial in addressing the complex challenges we face, from climate change to health issues to economic inequality.

5.    In the face of adversity, the resilience of Pacific women and girls shines brightly. We have witnessed this resilience in the aftermath of disasters, in the fight for gender equality, and in the relentless pursuit of a stronger, resilient region.

6.    This evening, we honour that resilience and must pledge to continue to support and elevate women leaders across our region. We acknowledge that leadership by women and girls, at all levels, is what is needed. Whether it is in Parliament, in boardrooms, school rooms, or in community halls – leadership by women and girls is powerful because they reflect their own experiences and those of their communities.

7.    As you deliberate over the next few days, the decisions you will arrive at will impact and continue to shape the future of our Blue Pacific, in particular women and girls. Thank you for your commitment, your leadership, and your unwavering dedication to our shared goals. Let us continue to inspire, support, and empower each other as we journey toward a resilient and prosperous Blue Pacific Continent.

8.    I wish you fruitful and successful deliberations in the coming days.

Enjoy the evening and I thank you.--ENDS
