Rt Hon Sir Mekere Morauta, KCMG, Eminent Person and Chair of the Pacific Plan Review, made these points today at the launch of the review’s website, www.pacificplanreview.org, held at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Suva. “The Pacific Plan Review website will be a key source of information for the public and will provide a portal for communication between the public and our Review team,” said Sir Mekere.

“The website pages include clear information on the Pacific Plan, on our team members’ backgrounds and on our team’s terms of reference."

The Pacific Plan Review will be carried out under Sir Mekere’s leadership by an independent team of experienced advisors. They are Mrs Peseta Noumea Simi, Assistant CEO of Finance (Aid Coordination Debt Management) in Samoa’s Ministry of Finance, Mr Redley Killion, former Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia, and international consultants Mr. Peter Bazeley of the United Kingdom and Dr. Nick Poletti of New Zealand.

In addition, the Government of Papua New Guinea has committed to supporting Mr Robert Igara as adviser to Sir Mekere. Sir Mekere, a former Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, was mandated to lead the 2013 Review by Pacific Islands Forum Leaders at their annual summit earlier this year.

“Next year we will travel to all Forum Member countries and Associate Member countries for consultations,” explained Sir Mekere. “Details of our travel will be uploaded on the website as the itinerary is confirmed. In addition, the website includes a form for public submissions.”

Sir Mekere invited all stakeholders to begin exploring the website’s pages and thinking about how they may contribute to the Pacific Plan Review. “All are welcome to contribute their thoughts on our region’s future and the nature of the Plan that will take us there.” (Ends)
