Update on China -Pacific Islands Forum Scholarship Programme

A number of Pacific Island students study in mainland China as part of the China –Pacific Islands Forum scholarship programme. The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat is monitoring the Coronavirus outbreak closely; and through its Pacific Trade and Investment office in Beijing is in close contact with both students and Pacific Islands diplomatic missions in China, with concerted efforts to ensure the safety of all students. The Pacific Trade and Investment office located in Beijing is providing the necessary support and information to students in relation to precautionary measures. Currently, there are no arrangements in place to evacuate students. [ENDS]
